Care

JEWELRY CARE (with volcanic blackening and gold plating):

We use only Sterling Silver (925) in our work
Keep in mind that silver tends to darken over time if you don't wear it for a long time, and it can also lose texture depth if you wear it every day due to friction from clothing, so we recommend leaving it at home from time to time. To maintain the balance of color and texture for a long time.
Silver (Ag) is a very soft material, it needs to be looked after, and then it will delight you for many years.
If you want to give the product an extra shine, polish it from time to time.
We recommend cleaning your jewelry by gently wiping with flannel or suede/leather
👉🏻Don't overdo it and only do it when necessary to maintain texture and color.
Silver jewelry should be stored away from heat sources and direct sunlight.
An excellent option would be to store it in the original packaging or special dark place.

👉🏻Remove jewelry when doing household chores, washing your hands, or going to bed.
Protect silver from mercury.
Mercury can be found in whitening cosmetics and healing ointments, and even in small amounts, it can damage silver.
IMPORTANT: before hard physical work or going to the gym, remove silver jewelry, as you can damage it during work.
CARING FOR VOLCANIC OXIDATION AND GOLD PLATED ITEMS:
The basic rules of care are the same as for silver, but let us remind you once again that gilding and volcanic oxidation are very thin coatings that require special care.
We use electroplating, a method known since 1865. This method, considered the most reliable, ensures that layers of 18 and 24 karat gold are densely deposited onto the surface, just a few microns thick.
This gives the piece the natural shine of pure gold.
👉🏻We carefully select places in the composition to apply gold plating to ensure exceptional abrasion resistance and long-lasting shine for your valuable item, but please be aware that in exposed areas this plating is extremely thin and requires special care!
To ensure that volcanic oxidation and gold plating lasts as long as possible, we recommend removing jewelry before washing your hands or using antiseptics.
Avoid detergents and cleaning products.
If you have not worn a piece with volcanic oxidation/gold plating for a long time and the stones have become excessively dark and have lost their shine it can be restored to shine by placing them in a solution of any dishwashing detergent for a few minutes. Then rinse in clean water, wipe and polish with a soft cloth.
👉🏻This procedure should only be used as needed to maintain the finish as long as possible.

CARE OF UNCOATED SILVER JEWELRY:
If you have not worn a piece without volcanic oxidation/gold plating for a long time and the stones have become excessively dark and have lost their shine, then ammonia and warm water can help. Add a few drops of ammonia to the soap solution (about 60 degrees). Then clean the product with a soft toothbrush, rinse in clean water, dry and polish with a soft/flannel cloth.
CARE OF JEWELRY WITH STONES:
Silver jewelry with stones and inserts deserves special attention. Soaking, rubbing, scratching can be fatal! In this case, it is better to turn to professionals.
If you have questions about caring for your silver jewelry, please contact us and we will send instructions for your specific case.
And also, all our customers have a quality guarantee, so you can always send us your jewelry to update the coating (blackening/gilding) if necessary.
Just contact us in any way convenient for you🌋

What is Ruinism in Jewelry Art?

Perhaps, while watching the project50g brand on social networks, you have often come across such words as Ruinism, Ruinistic jewelry, and what does jewelry have to do with it? Let's figure it out..

A Philosophy of 50gramsofsilver

Worn in Metal

At 50gramsofsilver, we don’t just make jewelry. We create relics — as if unearthed from another time.

Ruinism is an invitation.

To notice cracks, erosion, the marks left by time and cultures long gone.

To see beauty where others see only imperfection.

Our pieces are designed to feel like they’ve already lived a life —

and are now ready to become part of yours.

Our rings are rough, oxidized, covered in volcanic sulfur.

You hold one and feel it: it’s not new.

It’s been somewhere before. Now, it’s with you.

Each piece is a personalized artifact,

meant to be found by the one who feels its call.

How We Create

It all begins with wax.

We shape it by hand,

carving each form like a sculptor working in stone.

You won’t find perfect lines here —

the surfaces feel touched by time.

Every one of our pieces is finished with volcanic oxidation —

an alchemy of fire and minerals

that leaves the metal scorched, darkened,

and imbues each piece with a quiet, unpredictable strength.

We weave elements from different cultures, ornaments, and eras into the design, reimagining the history of the world.

What Makes Jewelry Ruinist:

• Patterns mixed with cracks

• Imperfect, irregular shapes

• Organic, tactile textures

• No shine for shine’s sake

• The feeling that it was found, not made

Why Ruinism Matters Today

In a world obsessed with perfection, ruinism brings you back to what’s real —

or perhaps to something long forgotten.

You don’t just wear a piece of jewelry.

You carry something that feels like it belongs in a museum —

but without the glass case.

Most jewelry is made to impress.

To be flawless.

But flawlessness doesn’t mean meaning.

You’ll find beauty in the traces of time,

in what was broken — and endured.

In pieces that carry not just form, but memory.

Ruinist jewelry connects you to something ancient. Human.

It doesn’t just complete your look.

It becomes part of your story — both the one that’s passed,

and the one still to come.

Our stone packaging

All products are delivered in our author's packaging in the form of a large stone.

It takes more than one day to make such a package.
But, despite this, we try to meet the stated production deadlines.

How did we come up with the idea for this package?

We do not know...
It happened suddenly, like design ideas, when you just want to try something new.

We walked along the beach looking for props for our first ring photo shoot. We were so inspired by natural textures that we decided to reflect them in our products, including the packaging itself.

We wanted to create a box that we would like to keep and admire, and not throw away after opening.

We make each box by hand, individually for each person, since it is simply impossible to “clone” it. Each package is made individually for each order!

We hope you enjoy it)

By the way, if you have any ideas on how we can improve our box, feel free to send us your ideas here or in private messages on instagram.

About Us

We know: You’re not here for trends.

 You’re here for meaning.

About Us

We’re Mikhail and Aleksandra Savchenkov — partners in life and co-founders of 50gramsofsilver, a jewelry brand born from fire, time, and our love for what history leaves behind.

For the past few years, we’ve been living on the move — without a permanent home.
Our workshop travels with us — packed in suitcases, across countries, mountains, and volcanoes.
The work continues wherever we are.
Each place leaves a trace — in us and in what we create.

We share our movements and behind-the-scenes moments on Instagram — come along if you haven’t yet

Our Inspiration

We visit ancient temples, dusty flea markets, forgotten ruins.
We look for beauty in what’s been buried, worn down, or forgotten.
We’re inspired by fragments: a broken carving, a worn-out tool, an uneven surface.
These moments take shape in wax — and then in metal.

How it Began

There was a time when Mikhail’s life was hanging by the thinnest thread.

A moment that reshaped everything — not because it was difficult, but because it revealed how brief time can be, and how essential it is to live it freely.

The only thing he dreamed of then was freedom — to see the world, to follow his own rhythm, to create not by rules but by intuition.

For years, we tried to follow the “right” path, to work as expected, to build a life that looked proper from the outside.

But something within kept pointing us in another direction — toward movement, discovery, and a life that felt truly our own.

So in 2018, we let go of everything we had, packed two small backpacks, and left.

Not to escape — but to search for the freedom he once promised himself when he stood at the edge of uncertainty.

And somewhere along that journey, on a rainy island in Thailand, he picked up a piece of modeling clay.

Then Mikhail started to experiment. There was no plan. No brand idea.
Just curiosity, the warmth of hands, and the desire to keep going.

A moment simple, quiet, almost accidental — and the beginning of what would become 50g.

Project50g | About us

No one imagined that experiments with soft clay would evolve into a collection of silver artifacts.

We moved from place to place — exploring, searching, learning.
A year later came the first jewelry wax, and new textures.
And one day — the first metal.

The first five silver rings we ever cast weighed exactly 50 grams of silver.
That became our name — and the beginning of something real.

What We Do Now

We create ruinistic jewelry — pieces that feel like found artifacts, shaped by time.

Project50g | Our history

Each ring is hand-carved in wax, using a mix of original techniques, and cast in silver.
It’s then finished with volcanic patina — made from sulfur we collected ourselves inside the Ijen volcano crater in Indonesia.

Every mark, every crack — is not a flaw, but a language.

Made To Order

All of our pieces are made to order — crafted individually for each person.
We don’t keep stock, because we believe:
objects only gain meaning when they are made for someone.

Packaging

Each ring is sent in a custom-designed package —

with textures, materials, and a tall volcanic-themed label that reflects our story.

We also handcraft a stone-like box for every order — with original design and a solid, weighty feel.

It’s not just packaging. It’s part of the artifact.
