MAJESTAS Ring
Artisan Sterling Silver Ring with Natural Tourmaline, Baroque Pearls and Hand-Fired Enamel
The first design from TOMB — a new chapter of Ruinism in which the ruin exists not only on the surface, but within the origins of the object itself.
Majestas is a Latin word meaning greatness, dignity and presence.
The ring’s monumental composition recalls the jewelry of the Northern Renaissance and the later Renaissance Revival, when large gemstones, botanical ornament, colored enamel and pearls were brought together in intricate, layered structures.
At the center of MAJESTAS is a natural tourmaline brought from Thailand. The silver leaves surrounding the stone reproduce details of an old decorative fragment found in Uzbekistan. The same ornament first appeared in the JARDIN ring; here, elements of the original pattern return within a new composition.
The stone is framed by a crown of baroque pearls found in a small, long-established shop in Vietnam. The pearls are selected individually for each ring. Their natural variations in shape and texture create a different rhythm around every stone.
The sides are filled with hand-fired vitreous enamel, created in Saigon together with a local master who has spent years working to revive an almost forgotten craft in Vietnam.
Vitreous enamel is an inherently unpredictable material. The heat of the kiln and the interaction between glass and metal can alter the depth and tone of its color, making each result impossible to reproduce exactly.
Sterling silver, 18k gold plating and dark oxidation created with natural volcanic sulfur from Indonesia bring these elements of different origins into a single structure.
MAJESTAS does not reproduce a specific historical artifact. It brings together displaced ornaments, materials and craft traditions, allowing their fragments to continue in a new form.
READY-TO-SHIP & INDIVIDUAL EDITION
The MAJESTAS ring shown in the photographs is the first completed piece. It is available for purchase exactly as shown and fits US sizes 6–7.
For all other sizes, the ring is individually made to order. You will be able to choose a natural gemstone from the currently available selection. Its shape, color and inclusions will determine the proportions of the setting, while the baroque pearls will be selected specifically for the new composition.
The enamel color can be changed upon request. Because every element is fired by hand, its final shade may vary slightly from the expected color.
After your order is placed, we will contact you with the available stones and confirm the ring size, enamel color and remaining details before production begins.
