PORTAL Ring

A sculptural sterling silver signet ring built around an open center — a broken circular form that turns negative space into the main feature.

The opening, visible crack and engraved edge make the ring instantly recognizable, while the oxidized surface gives it the character of a contemporary artifact rather than a conventional polished signet.

Why it stands apart

PORTAL is designed around absence rather than a solid face. The central opening creates depth and lightness inside an otherwise substantial signet form, while the crack interrupts the circle and makes the construction feel fragmented rather than perfect.

The engraved edge adds another layer of detail, reminiscent of worn ornamental markings found on old architectural fragments and artifacts.

The idea

The ring recalls partial circular structures — forms that once had a function or meaning, now preserved only as fragments. Instead of treating the opening as empty space, PORTAL makes it the center of the composition: a passage framed by material.

This contrast between mass and void gives the piece its tension and makes it feel closer to an object unearthed from another time than to a conventional signet ring.

Material: 925 Sterling Silver
Finish: Volcanic oxidation
Weight: approximately 15–16 g, depending on size

The darkened surface is created using volcanic sulfur collected during our journey in Indonesia. Each ring is individually handcrafted to order, so subtle variations in engraving, texture and oxidation are part of the piece.

Optional personalization: initials or a short engraving can be added inside upon request.

Before shipping: we send a confirmation photo of your finished ring.

All your items will be sent in a unique author's packaging in the form of a large stone and safely packed in a mailbox marked “FRAGILE”

Processing time

TEMPORARY PRODUCTION UPDATE · 16 SEP — 31 OCT 2026

Orders placed between 16 September and 31 October 2026 will follow a temporary production schedule while we’re away on an expedition.

These orders will enter production in November after our return to the workshop. Production will take approximately 2–5 weeks after our return, depending on overall order volume.

Estimated dispatch: late November–December. Shipping time is additional.

Every order placed during this period includes a complimentary MONO ring.

Outside this period, our standard production time is 3–5 weeks.

Atelier "Project50g" works to order according to the individual measurements of the client, we do not have anything in stock. In this regard, the production time directly depends on the current demand and takes 3-5 weeks.

Mikhail makes all orders manually, individually for each person.  He tries to process orders as quickly as possible.  We hope for your understanding.

We will update you as our work progresses and when ready we will send you a photo for approval.
